Enter the world of the matrix, where even the film's creators are snatched and transmogrified from brothers into sisters. Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, the Oracle, Agent Smith -- they're all here. The Wachowski brothers (I mean sisters) were not presenting to us a cinematic entertainment; they were preparing us for the future headed our way. And look around, boys and girls: here we are! A world unrecognizable to our eyes from the past imagining ourselves in the future. What would we tell our past selves in preparation for this? To buckle down? To get laid while we could? To eat, drink, and be merry while innocence in the natural world was still possible? And would we have even believed it if we could've had full pre-cognition? The world we inhabit now fits more in the world of the matrix than the world of flowers and blue skies and puppy dogs. The Wachowskis gave us omens in these movies. They are more than cinema, they are vital artifacts.
