I understand those sentimental thoughts about dads, and Luther's beautiful homage to dads really is required on Father's Day. I have some of those feelings about my dad, too, but our relationship was really much more based in creativity because he could be so much fun when he wanted to be. I remember my dad much more like this:
And this. This TOTALLY would have been my dad. My goal in life was to make him laugh, and I went to absurd lengths to accomplish it.
[You see that doorway behind my parents, above? It was really the entry to a very narrow hallway that led to a bathroom — and it was high, too, because even above what you can see in the photo was more cabinet space. And it was narrow enough that I could scale it, feet astride on either side, like Spiderman (kinda like in the video). One of my very favorite things was to secretly hover over people up there and then scare the snot out of them when they walked under. ]
